Mico Stanisic’s defence counsels turned to the Secretariat in order to ask the Government of Republika Srpska to provide guarantees for Stanisic’s temporary residence in Republika Srpska. Their client Mico Stanisic was a former minister of internal affairs of RS and was indicted by the ICTY in the case No. IT-04-79.
The Secretariat reviewed and completed the materials and referred them to the Government of Republika Srpska, which, at its twenty-fourth session, granted this request.
The Secretariat referred the Government’s decision on providing guarantees for Mico Stanisic’s temporary residence in RS to the defence counsels and the Office 2 of the BiH Presidency for cooperation with the ICTY.
Mico
Stanisic was charged on the basis of individual criminal responsibility and
superior criminal responsibility. The indictment was unsealed March 10 2005,
and the accused voluntarily surrendered March 11, 2005. In the initial appearance,
Mico Stanisic pleaded not guilty to all counts.
