The first advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of France in BiH and the Head of the Office in BiH Michel Charbonnier paid a visit to the Secretariat.
Jovan Spaic, Head of the Secretariat and Mr Charbonnier discussed the cooperation of Republika Srpska with the Tribunal in the Hague and the work of the Working Group for Execution of the Final Report Made by the Commission for Investigating the Events in and Around Srebrenica from 10 – 19 July 1995.
Mr Spaic explained the attitude of the authorities of the Republika Srpska which convey the necessity of cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal in the Hague. This cooperation is to be achieved through the legal practices of voluntary surrender or the arrest of the accused. Mr Spaic stressed that the authorities of the Republic of Srpska are determined to fully cooperate with the Tribunal in the Hague in order to speed up the process of joining the European integrations.
Mr Charbonnier spoke affirmatively about the existing cooperation of the authorities of the Republic of Srpska, but also noticed a slowdown in the legal practices of voluntary surrender due to the fact that the last accused surrendered 14 April 2005.
Mr Spaic informed Mr Charbonnier on the work of the Working Group which is obliged to finish the Final Report by the end of September and hand it over to the Republic of Srpska Government, High Representative and the Prosecution office of the BiH Court.
